Overview
Research at the DHU is underway to develop new methods of detecting and monitoring gingival inflammation. This work involves the use of new laser scanning techniques and also the application of laser doppler and colour image processing.
We have recently presented data on the use of thermal imaging to detect minute changes in the blood flow through gingival tissues that may enable us to measure the response of gingivitis to a range of therapies and products. This work is led by Naveen Mohan, a research Assistant at the DHU.
