About us
The OHU, part of the university's School of Dentistry, was established within the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre (NPCRDC), which delivers high quality research directly relevant to supporting national policy for the development of primary care.
Through combining academic excellence with professionals working in practice, the OHU provides potential researchers with an open window on the world of dental research processes and an excellent opportunity to access a comprehensive range of skills, advice and information.
The aims of the OHU are to:
- Expand research capacity in dentistry
- Develop research infrastructure in primary dental care
- Increase research outputs to improve dental services for patients and population oral health
Whilst the unit aims to make research more accessible and viable for GDPs, the OHU is also a research active unit and strives to set the highest standards in the delivery of high quality, policy relevant research.
